Parts along the turbo line

A turbocharger uses exhaust gas energy to force more air into the engine, raising power and efficiency. This category includes complete turbochargers, replaceable turbo cartridges, aftercooler cores that cool the charge air, and guards and heat shields that protect nearby parts.

  • Complete turbo: full unit replacement
  • Cartridge: renews the rotating group in the existing housing
  • Aftercooler core: cools charge air to increase its density
  • Heat shields: protect surrounding parts from high temperature

These products come from CTP, which makes OEM-quality parts for Caterpillar and Komatsu machines. Volka Makina is the authorized regional distributor of CTP.

Selection and care

When choosing a turbo, the engine model, serial number and, if possible, the part number on the turbo itself are decisive. Search by engine with the Part finder, or use Paste a parts list for longer lists.

Lubrication problems are the main cause of turbo failure. Changing engine oil and filters on time, idling briefly after heavy load and keeping the air filter intact noticeably extend turbo life. When replacing a turbo, make sure the oil feed line is clean.

Frequently asked questions

Why do turbos fail early?

The most common cause is oil starvation or dirty oil; dust entering through a faulty air filter also erodes the blades.

Should I buy a complete turbo or a cartridge?

If the housing is sound, a cartridge may be enough; with a cracked or damaged housing a complete unit is more suitable.

Why does the aftercooler core matter?

A clogged or leaking core causes power loss and heat. It is advisable to inspect it together with the turbo.
